Pak n' Save Oxford Pies Sausage Roll

Glen brought this roll to work this morning. Unfortunately we had to nuke it so the pastry went a bit soft. It's packaged in the Oxford Pies plastic bag.

3 - Flavour is not amazing and not terrible - what I'd call typical old-school sausage roll filling and pastry.
4 - Meat-to-pastry ratio - classic pastry. Shame I had to nuke it.
2 - Real food value - can't detect any vegetable matter or any real meat so harsh score here.
3 - Presentation - never a big fan of the plastic wrap sausage rolls but I guess they have to package these mass-produced rolls. Is there a connection between plastic wrap and average sausage rolls? Only time will tell as we sample more.
5 - Cost - redeeming feature for this one as it only costs $2.69. Mass-production has it's benefits I suppose.
3 - Overall satisfaction - 'can still feel it sitting in me guts' is an expression that comes to mind. Average.

A new King - will it retain its title??

Gear Meat Pies - Beef Bacon and Cheese Sausage Roll

First up on the renewed Sausage Roll Project is the BBC from Gear Meat Pies - You start with the King but can it remain on top?

5 - Flavour - Delicious flaky pastry and great filling.
4.5 - A lot of Meat just enough pastry
4 - Real food value - there is evidence of cheese and the flavour of bacon and it appears to be real beef
4 - Great presentation - how could you not want to sample that bugger?
5 - Cost - $4 was good value.
5 - Overall satisfaction - Worth the money
